Freshly Squeezed Events featured on BBC 2's 'The Restaurant' with Raymond Blanc
1 Oct, 2008
Freshly Squeezed Events featured on Series 2 of the BBC's ‘The Restaurant'. This was an exciting invitation from BBC2 and one which we had great fun being part of.
In the show Raymond Blanc (holder of 2 coveted Michelin Stars at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons) put nine couples through their paces to see if they have what it takes to run their own restaurant. The Restaurant features couples, some of who have little or no experience other than cooking at home and throwing dinner parties, but whose dream it is to run their own eatery. They have to create their perfect restaurant and then open the doors to the paying public. One couple realised their dream and will set up a brand new restaurant, financially backed and personally supported by Raymond Blanc.
Each week the restaurants were visited by Raymond's panel of "inspectors" - restaurant industry experts Lee Cash, Sarah Willingham and John Lederer. Raymond selected the three restaurants he judges to be the worst performing and they were given a tough, specific challenge. They have to prove that, in the challenge they are good enough to stay open.
That's where Freshly Squeezed came in. We were approached by the producers of the show to be a host of one of the "challenges" in the shape of a dinner party for 20 people. The couple, James and Alastair were tasked with organising, presenting and cooking a fabulous dinner. It was stressful to say the least but the couple pulled it off with the help of Kate and Chris, founders of Freshly Squeezed, who hosted the event.
James and Alastair went on to be runners-up in the show and are now fulfilling a contract at Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons and we believe they are now embarking on a new TV opportunity.
Fun was had by all...
